B i o g r a p h y

 

Soprano Reut Rivka has graduated Cum Laude from The Jerusalem Music Academy studying under the tutelage of Miriam Meltzer. After studying with Mrs. Efrat Bin-Nun and and Mrs. Larissa Totuev in Tel Aviv, she continued her studies in The Netherlands, specializing in Early Music singing and Baroque performance practice, and Graduating with excellent marks, while obtaining a Masters Degree in Baroque singing and Baroque Gesture at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, with teachers Michael Chance, Jill Feldman, Peter Kooij, Rita Dams, Sasja Hunnego and Claron McFadden. Reut has completed her Baroque Gesture Masters Thesis with acclaimed period-theater specialists Sigrid T'Hooft and Gilbert Blin. In 2001/2012 Reut was accepted to the New Israeli Opera Studio in Tel Aviv, as a coloratura soprano.

 

Current and upcoming engagements include singing a main role (Gasparina) in J. Haydn's opera La Canterina, with La Petite Bande and Sigiswald Kuijken, with Regie and Gestique by Marie Kuijken. As well as a Title role in the new Opera "Queen without a Country" with Muziektheater Transparant, by composer Wim Henderickx and with staging by Wouter van Looy. The opera will be performed at the Flemish Opera House, Concertgebouw Brugge, Operadagen Festival Rotterdam, Antwerp Summer Festival, and many more venues.

Her past engagements include appearances as soloist at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Het Muziektheater Amsterdam and Dutch National Opera, Anton Philipszaal The Hague, The Samuel Beckett Theatre, Dublin, The Jerusalem Music Center (JMC), Heichal Hatarbut with the Israeli Philharmonic in Tel Aviv, the Tel Aviv museum with the Israeli Camerata orchestra, Het Bethaniën Klooster (Amsterdam) with the Van Swieten Society and numerous theaters in

The Netherlands and abroad. She appeared in Festivals such as Festival 'Dag in de Branding' for contemporary music, Montalbâne Festival for Medieval and Baroque music (Germany), Festival Classique (The Hague), Gaudeamus Muziekweek for contemporary music (NL), the Utrecht Early Music festival, UNEVEN festival (NL) and more.

She has sung in both Opera and Concert, under the baton of  Jules Buckley, Jos Vermunt, Peter van Heyghen, Phillippe Pierlot, Sebatien Marque, Mike Fentross, Danny Nootboom, Stanley Sperber, Aharon Harlap, et al. Reut has performed in duet with countertenor Michael Chance and violinist Elizabeth Wallfish at Shanghai's World Fair, with  another concert with Michael Chance in the following season; She has performed with Soprano Claron McFadden and the Metropole orchestra. She has performed as soloist with Sigiswald Kujiken (La Petite Bande), Steven Devine (London Baroque), Fabio Bonizzoni (La Risonanza), Andrew Parrot and The Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra, Patrick Ayrton, Charles Toet (in a Renaissance music Festival, Modena), Peter van Heyghen (Utrecht Early Music Festival), with Collegium Musicum Den Haag orchestra, with ensemble De Swaen (Amsterdam). A passionate Lied Repertoire singer, she has given \lied recitals alongside renowned fortepianist, while being broadcasted live at RadioWest (NL), as well as at the Utrecht Early Music festival. Reut has sung main roles in opera and music theater productions with Silbersee - VOCAALLAB (NL), Muziektheater Transparant (Belgium), Studio Minailo (Amsterdam), Voi-Z (NL), Gaudeamus Muziekweek (NL) and the Radio France Orchestra in Paris. 

 

On the opera stage, Reut has appeared in the roles of Belinda/Second woman (Dido and Aeneas/ Purcell) at Festival Classique, Nerone (Agrippina/ Händel) in a production of Koninklijk Schouwburg and Opera2day company, Adina (L'Elisir d'amore/ Donizetti) at the Dutch National Opera Jubileum festival, Costanza (L'Isola Disabitata/ J. Haydn) with conductor Sigiswald Kuijken and Regisseur Marie Kuijken (Collevecchio, Italy), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte/ Mozart), and Despina (Cosi fan Tutte/Mozart) with the Jerusalem Acedemy Orchestra staged by Jacob Kauffman and Jonathan Cok (England). 

 

Her repertoire includes Baroque opera, oratorio and cantata repertoire, Renaissance and Medieval repertoire, Classical Opera, Lieder, and she is a much sought after contemporary music vocalist, with her talent for the theater, her Vocal flexibility, improvisation and versatility of sound. Young and upcoming Composers especially write pieces for her voice, including Matti Kovler and Peter Kerkelov. 

 

Reut's versatile vocal abilities as well as her special talent for vocal improvisation, has given her stage experience in other genres of music, where she shows artistry and musicianship to great critical acclaim; Singing compositions of modern Jazz composers such as Krzystof Kobylinsky (Poland), joining Tonal as well as A-tonal Improvisation-Master David Dolan (Guildhall, London) for an upcoming project. She further collaborates with Jazz and World music masters such as Maria Pomianowska (Poland), Nadishana (Berlin), David Kucherman (Berlin), Boris Malkovsky (Krakow), a tour with Chris Hinze (NL), Dima Gorelik (Poland), Clarence Penn (New York), the legendary Arnie Lawrence (New York) and Max Roach, Accordion master Emil Eibinder, Tomer Katz (Buzuki, IL) et al. She has stage experience in various vocal traditions, such as Balkan, Arabic, Greek, and Ladino. 

 

Reut is a recipient of the America-Israel Scholarships in voice, and has received scholarships from The Royal Conservatoire of The Hague. At 18, She was granted the Outstanding musician title at the Israeli army, where she served while singing with the IDF chamber orchestra in various events and ceremonies. At 14 she had her Debut with the Israeli philharmonic orchestra. During her youth she was a soloist at the Ankor professional children choir, performing in Israel and the world with conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Kurt Mazur, Claudio Abbado, Luciano Berio and more.
